Gestalt System PM

Open Gestalt System PM

Version 0.85.1

Bug fixes and code cleanup.

Version 0.85.0

  • New: Docent, the Gestalt assistant. Click the chat button just left of Help (or press Ctrl+J, ⌘J on a Mac) and ask how to do something; Docent answers from PM's Help and links to the article. Nothing you type leaves your browser. Guests don't see it.

Version 0.84.2

Bug fixes and code cleanup.

Version 0.84.1

  • Important fix: In Design Guard, the Accessibility Check tab opens again when you click it (it stayed on Design Check). The tabs in AI research tools had the same problem and are fixed too.

Bug fixes and code cleanup.

Version 0.84.0

  • The Review's side panel no longer has a Downloads section. Your review pages, pictures and feedback are kept as they were, and Export feedback still saves the feedback as a CSV file.

Version 0.83.0

  • The sidebar folds to a narrow strip of icons, so pages get more room. Use Collapse menu at the bottom of the sidebar, or press Ctrl+B (⌘B on a Mac). On smaller laptop screens it starts folded until you choose, and your choice is remembered. In the strip, each icon's name shows beside it when you point at it, and the sidebar's sections show as thin lines.

Version 0.82.0

  • Client Map: Share with client. Admins and Managers can send a client a link to their own page, with your branding: "Your projects with" your workspace, each open project's progress, its dates, and anything waiting for them (a Sign-off to answer or a Review round to comment on). No account is needed. Clients never see health, notes, the team's tasks or other clients. Make a separate link for each person, lasting 7, 30 or 90 days, and see how often each one is opened. Revoke one at any time and it stops working at once. On the map, Share with client is on each client's card (in the list, open the client).

Version 0.81.0

  • Built on PM Base 0.71.1: the header, sidebar, phone menu, account menu and sign-in card now come from the shared Gestalt System shell, so PM looks and works the same as Forms, UXR and Publisher CP, DS and Docs. Nothing moves.
  • The header has the Gestalt apps button, beside Help, to open the other Gestalt apps.
  • Every page and the sign-in card end with "Gestalt System PM by Phantomnaut".

Version 0.80.0

  • Client Map: Waits on. Say that one project can't move until another does, for the same client or a different one, with a short note ("Needs the new logo"). The map draws a dashed arrow to the project being waited on, the card lists it, and a project that waits on a Late one shows At risk with the reason. Loops aren't allowed.
  • Client Map: Waiting on client. A project shows a Waiting on client chip when a customer has had a Sign-off to answer, or an open Review round with none of their comments, for more than 3 days. It sits beside the health and never changes it, so a slow reply doesn't make the team look late. Clients with a waiting project say so too, and "Only Late, At risk or waiting" keeps them in view.

Version 0.79.0

  • Client Map (a new add-on; an Admin turns it on in Settings, Add-ons). Every open project you can see on one screen, grouped by client or by owner, as a map with lines from each client to its projects or as a list. Each project shows its health: Late (past its due date with work open, or a milestone has passed), At risk (an overdue or blocked task, or the work well behind the time used) or On track, with the reason in words, its tasks done and its due date. A client is as healthy as its worst project, and trouble comes first. "Only Late and At risk" hides the rest. On a phone it is a list.
  • Set health. Anyone who may change a project's details can choose another health with a short note ("Client paused for budget"), shown on the card and in the project's activity, and go back to the worked-out health at any time. Customers never see the map or the notes.

Version 0.78.0

  • Client intake (a new add-on, off until an Admin turns it on in Settings, Add-ons): clients ask for work through a form in Gestalt System Forms, and each request lands in a new Requests inbox for Admins and Managers.
    • Accept a request into a new project from a template, with its files, an owner, the client as a Guest if you like, and an email to the client saying you've started.
    • Decline with a reason, with or without an email to the client. Declined requests are cleared after 30 days.
    • New requests show in the bell.
    • The project's Overview shows the client's request and answers, with buttons to open its files in VectorCanvas or Folio UI.
    • Admins make intake keys in Settings, Client intake. A key can only add requests: it can't read or change any project.
  • Important fix: tasks and comments another app adds with your agent token (like a form answer from Forms) now show in your notifications, named for that app (from PM Base 0.70.1).

Version 0.77.1

Bug fixes and code cleanup.

Version 0.77.0

  • Spreadsheet and Calendar layouts for tasks (from PM Base 0.69.0). Beside List and Board, a project's Tasks tab and the Tasks page can show tasks as a spreadsheet (change status, person, priority, due date and task fields right in their cells, and sort by any column) or as a month calendar (drag a task to another day to move its due date). Both work on a phone: the spreadsheet scrolls sideways with the task names in view, and the calendar becomes a list of days. Saved views remember the layout.

Version 0.76.0

  • Sub-tasks (from PM Base 0.68.0). Break a task into sub-tasks from its panel. Each one is a task of its own, with a person, dates, a status and comments, and sits under its parent in the List; the parent shows how many are done. Sub-tasks go one level deep and stay inside the project. Sprints, Time tracking and the other add-ons treat sub-tasks like any task.
  • Custom fields on tasks (from PM Base 0.68.0). Each project can have up to 15 fields (text, number, date, dropdown, person or link), set up with Fields on its Tasks tab or brought in from a project template. Values show in the task panel, the List and the Board, and can be searched and filtered.

Version 0.75.1

Bug fixes and code cleanup.

Version 0.75.0

  • Time tracking, a new add-on an Admin turns on in Settings, Add-ons:
    • My week: Time in the sidebar shows your week, a row for each project and task, a column for each day. Log time with the hours (1.5, 1:30 or 45m), a note and whether it is billable to the client.
    • Timer: start it on the Time page or in a task panel, and stop it to save the time. It keeps running with the page closed.
    • Hand in and approve: hand in a week, and an Admin or Manager approves it or returns it with a note. Handed-in and approved weeks are locked. Only an Admin approves their own time.
    • Report: hours by project and person for any dates, with what billable time comes to at each project's rate, and a CSV of every entry for your accounting tool.
    • Budget: each project's Overview gets a Time card with hours against a budget (amber at 80%, red past 100%). Admins and Managers set the budget, rate and currency. Rates are never shown to Contributors or customers.
    • Customers can see a project's approved billable hours against its budget, when its team turns that on.

Version 0.74.0

  • Sprints connections. Inside the Sprints add-on (so it turns on and off with it):
    • Task keys: every task gets a key from its project, like APP-12, on the Sprints page and in the task panel.
    • Blocks: in the task panel, mark which tasks block a task. Blocked tasks show on the Sprints page, and the owner hears in the bell when nothing blocks their task anymore.
    • GitHub: an Admin connects it in Settings, under Sprints. A branch or pull request that names a task's key shows on the task and moves it to In progress, In review and Done as the work goes. Tasks only move forward.
    • Slack and Teams: channels hear when a sprint starts or is completed, a task is done or no longer blocked, a bug is added, or a pull request is merged.
    • Rules: up to 20 "when this happens, do that" rules: move a task, set its priority, add a label, assign it or post to a channel.
    • Import from Jira: turn a Jira CSV export into tasks, with their sprints, epics and blocks. It shows what it will do first, and adds nothing twice.
  • Built on PM Base 0.67.2.

Version 0.73.0

  • Whiteboards: groups (Group with Ctrl or ⌘ G; click a group again to pick one thing inside it; groups show as one row in Layers) and a Highlighter tool (H) for wide, see-through strokes. Synced from Whiteboard 0.51.0 with npm run sync-board. Save to Library stays in Gestalt Studio only (PM has no Library).

Version 0.72.1

Bug fixes and code cleanup.

Version 0.72.0

  • Built on PM Base 0.67.0: one web address. When PM moves to a new address (next: pm.thegestaltsystem.com), visits to an old one open the same page there, so saved and shared links keep working. Nothing changes until CANONICAL_HOST is set.

Version 0.71.0

  • Whiteboards (Whiteboard 0.50.0): dot voting and a timer for workshops. Workshop above the board starts a vote (5 dots each unless you pick another number) or sets a countdown everyone on the board sees, with a soft chime each person can mute.
  • Everyone who can see the board can vote, including people set to View only: click sticky notes and shapes to put dots on them, and click your own dots to take one back. Counts stay hidden until someone who can edit reveals them, and never show who voted for what. Then Line up by votes puts the top items in a column, and End vote clears the dots.

Version 0.70.0

  • Whiteboards (Whiteboard 0.49.0): comments. The Comments button above the board (or Shift C) turns comment mode on; click the board to leave a comment there, and on a sticky or shape it moves with it. Reply, resolve, and find every thread in the list on the right (a sheet along the bottom on a phone).
  • Everyone who can see the board can comment, including people set to View only. People edit or delete what they wrote; the board's maker, Managers and Admins can delete any comment.

Version 0.69.0

  • Whiteboards (Whiteboard 0.48.0): Properties and Layers panels on the right of the board (two icons until you open one; a sheet along the bottom on a phone). Properties shows the selection's place, size, rotation, text size and color in numbers, with front, back, lock and delete. Layers lists everything, top first: rename items, drag them up and down the stack, hide or lock them.
  • Whiteboards: rulers and guides from the ruler button at the end of the zoom bar (rulers start off). Guides are kept with the board for everyone on it, and things you move snap to them.

Version 0.68.0

  • Whiteboards (Whiteboard 0.47.0): a mini map in the lower right corner (folded on phones) shows the whole board; Select several in the toolbar lets each tap add or take out an item; with two or more items selected, Align and Distribute show at the top of the board; and red smart guides show what lines up, and equal spacing, while you move or resize. Moving and resizing now snap to other items, as in Studio's Whiteboard; hold Alt (Option) to move freely.

Version 0.67.2

Bug fixes and code cleanup.

Version 0.67.1

  • Important fix: the progress bar on each project card on the Sprints page showed as a large circle and a gray shape. It is a slim bar again.

Bug fixes and code cleanup.

Version 0.67.0

  • Sprints, a new add-on (Admin, Settings, Add-ons): plan a project's work in time-boxed sprints. Open Sprints in the sidebar (under Product Management) or from the new Sprints card on a project's Tasks tab.
    • Every task gets a type (Story, Task, Bug or Epic), an epic, an estimate and a sprint, in the task panel.
    • The Sprints page shows the running sprint as a Board or a list, with its progress and a burndown chart, the sprints coming up, the backlog (add a story straight to it, and move tasks with the select on each row), each epic's progress, and the team's velocity over the last six sprints. Filter everything by epic.
    • Start sprint keeps what the sprint holds as its commitment; Complete sprint keeps what it finished and moves the rest to the next sprint or the backlog. A project runs one sprint at a time.
    • An Admin picks whether estimates are story points or hours in Settings, under Sprints.
    • Customers (Guests) never see Sprints, and it needs the Tasks section on.
  • Built on PM Base 0.66.1 (new plug-in points for the Tasks tab and a task's own fields).

Version 0.66.0

  • Brings in PM Base 0.66.0, the task upgrade: task statuses (an Admin renames them in Settings › Tasks), a description, priority, labels, a checklist, files and comments on each task, a Tasks tab with a List and a Board on every project, a Tasks page in the sidebar with filters and saved views, and @mentions in comments with a notice in the bell.
  • Tasks that agents or Gestalt Studio tick done move to Done as before.

Version 0.65.1

Bug fixes and code cleanup.

Version 0.65.0

  • The document tools are back in the sidebar one by one, in the older PM's sections. Built on PM Base 0.65.0 (sidebar sections). The sidebar starts with Design & Research, Product Management, Business Analysis and Documentation Tools, in the older PM's order. Each kind of document has its own link (PRD, BRD or SOW, Release notes and the rest), which opens Documents on that kind: its own heading, what it is for, its documents, and New PRD (or the kind's name) to start one. All documents keeps the full list. Personas, Journey maps and User flows are links of their own beside Practice interviews.
  • Kinds not made for the workspace's type of work start hidden; an Admin can show them in Admin › Sidebar, where sections are added, renamed, ordered, hidden and deleted, and links moved between them.

Version 0.64.1

Bug fixes and code cleanup.

Version 0.64.0

  • Design Guard brought up to Design Check 1.11.0 and Accessibility Check 1.18.0: its About link now opens the About card every Gestalt app shares (DesignGuard by Phantomnaut, its version, Part of Gestalt System, the Phantomnaut Software credit and the License, Privacy and Terms links), in place of the old text box.

Version 0.63.2

Bug fixes and code cleanup.

Version 0.63.1

Bug fixes and code cleanup.

Version 0.63.0

  • Agents: create_task and add_comment take a send-once reference (sourceRef). Sending the same thing again (a Forms answer retried, for one) finds the first task or comment instead of adding a second, even when two arrive at the same moment. create_task also keeps a link back to where it came from (sourceUrl, sourceLabel), shown on the task. References are kept per project (agent_source_refs, migration pm_042), and a person without access to the project learns nothing from one.

Version 0.62.0

  • Synced PM Base 0.62.0: View more with search on long lists, plus the new demo page (nine What's inside cards, the Gestalt family section and the Phantomnaut footer, in pm/src/demo.tsx).

Version 0.61.0

  • The full PM now lives in its own private repository, built on PM Base 0.61.0. Nothing changes for people using it.
